I know I'm getting on and I know I'm turning into a middle aged woman but feckity feckity feck, teenagers are getting dafter the older I get. A few years ago I did a post on the stupid stuff they said HERE I am extremely sorry to say that there appears not to be any improvement.
My eldest beautiful daughter is not really that stupid but appears to have no general knowledge to speak of.
This last week she has astounded me by not knowing who Eva Braun was, thinking you could put parmesan on a pudenda is and the piece de resistance...
Telling me Copenhagen was in Yorkshire.
I was slightly ripping her to Hot Boy when I realised that he had no idea either. He thought Copenhagen was in Canada.
And his education cost his parents a quarter of a million pounds, I'd be looking for some kind of refund.

- When I started this blog in 2007 I was a single parent with 3 children aged 14, 11 and 10. Now in 2016, every one of those children has grown up and left home. I now live with my lovely best friend, my second and last husband and fellow blogger Mr Adventures in Reality and part of the time with the boy wonder, the one he made earlier. I KNOW!!!!! kids these days.....no decent reedin ritin or rithmatic being taught anymore...and saying fink and fought instead of think and thought! drives me mad.

Was moved to Google Yorkshire and Copenhagan and the only link I could find is Terrier. Is EBD a dog lover perhaps? BTW my Angel is exactly the same x

hey ...did I just convince you I was 20 years younger...I would have got away with it if I wasn't humming "wonderful, wonderful Copenhagan, friendly old girl of a town"....hang on have they never watch Hans Christian Anderson even?! £250,000 and not a Danny Kaye film shown.....REFUND!
I don't know if it's that education isn't as good as it was, or whether they just teach different things. Or whether the kids today have different priorities. I don't think they're stupid but maybe they only remember the things they think are important, and maybe knowing where Copenhagen is, doesn't come high on their list? They just seem to be on a totally different wavelength don't they?
I blame the parents *cough*. Actually we're pretty good on general knowledge round our 'ouse although I was at a school quiz last night and I was the only one of my table who knew where Tanzania was and the rest mistook for Tazmania
Me again...actually I do agree with ayak...and don't get me started on the school quiz.....

I am constantly amazed by the lack of general knowledge in our children, the problem seems to me that they are not interested in the world around them.
At school my only decent Report stated that I had an "Outstanding store of general knowledge" but then I grew up when the world was a vast place just begging to be explored and learnt about. At school we were encouraged to learn and not simply to pass exams!
Well, that's my excuse for an embarrassing lack of certificates!
It is ironic that in this day of access to unlimited amounts of information, so little is absorbed......
There is actually a Copenhagen in Canada. It's this tiny little blink-and-you'll-miss place in Southern Ontario near the shore of Lake Erie. The only I know this is because we drive through it on the way to the beach. Maybe he's been reading the atlas really, really closely.
My teen knows who Eva Braun is - but only because she's featured in episodes of Futurama and Family Guy.
Yes, I'm going to be looking for a refund.

my 18 year old couldn't even tell me when WWII was. shameful! thank goodness i sent her to a public school!
