What to do in Sheffield?

By the time you read this I will be on a residential training course with my new job.

So from Monday to Thursday I will be up North.

In Sheffield at a place that sounds like the whirley I peg my washing out on.

I've been to Sheffield twice before, once to the Plug to see Glasvegas and another time to a fancy wine bar and restaurant that I can't bloody remember the name of! What is wrong with my memory?

So, suggestions on a postcard please, what can your auntie get up to up north?

Please feel free to text, email, comment etc, see you when I get back.

Residential courses can be great fun. Just watch out for the married ones who think a week away from the missus is a passport for some slap and tickle!

Welcome to 'oop north.' Although I am in East Yorkshire, the prettier part of Yorkshire, you have to try to spend some time in the Meadowhall shopping park, lose yourself in a cacophony of shops! Enjoy the course (fall asleep by all means, but the trick is not to snore).

All I can think to offer are cliches. You know; playing the tuba in the Hovis band, playing with ferrets, racing pigeons....

Erm... I hear the..... um...... river.... is nice?

Go to the Rock Museum. Oh no it closed. Go and see a steel works. Oh no they're all closed. I do know a maggot farm on the outskirts. No, don't ask why. You could try and retrace the steps of Human League, Heaven 17 and ABC. Or not.

Just use that Glesga accent and the fun will come to you!

I loathe Sheffield for reasons that are entirely stupid and arbitrary. If I was there, I've instantly.

Sheffield? Well you have to go see "The Full Monty" of course! (It's either that or the snooker)
