It had to happen

It was only a matter of time, I mean me with my White Company addiction and my fondness for Cath Kidston fripperies.

I must be their target demographic but I have never succumbed for myself, when the children were smaller I did dabble and I was bought something once. But I held firm nothing for me thanks.

They wrote to me, told me I was a hard nut to crack, offered me all sorts of enticements. I ignored them. They emailed and whispered promises of all kinds of middle class loveliness. I caved.

It had to happen eventually.

So I will fess it up.

My name is auntiegwen and I...

sorry, I can hardly bring myself to type the confession

My name is auntiegwen and I bought a Boden raincoat.

The cliche of the middle class mummy.

I would point and hoot with derision, but I just bought (and am unreasonably happy with) a nespresso machine. I blame my brother-in-law and George Clooney (in that order).

Andy - great plan, I shall blame your brother in law and George Clooney too :)

*clears throat diffidently, then stands up*

My name is speccy and I'm wearing a Boden dress right now this minute. Your bravery has inspired me to go public on this.

However, I don't have any White Company stuff ...

speccy - it's only a matter of time, my dear...

Yey welcome to the dark side. Hope you plan to sit in Starbucks wearing it. You could borrow some knee high kids to also dress up and run riot whilst you comment about how little Freddie 'is such an excitable darling'

If there was a Ramone left alive I'd snitch on you.

Plan ...

Johnnie Boden apparently lives somewhere very near to me (here in Darkest Dorset).

You come in Boden attire, I lend you my Scottie Dog (much more handsome than his Jack)

I wear White sheet.

We parade through all local towns hoping you are spotted wearing Boden and carrying my smelly Dog.

You and Dog get mega photography contract.

(I keep White Co sheet).

When you will wear it? Surely not to the next Killers concert? On middle class mummyness I have to confess to MBTs, FitFlops (which I don't like), one Ian McEwan novel and a hanging basket with some living flowers in it xx

oh Auntie Gwen! shaking my head in an ironic fashion lol

If I had ANY idea of what a Boden raincoat was, well then I'd be shaking my head and tsk-ing. But since, I don't....you are forgiven.

Go forth and enjoy the coat. Surely it's worth confessing for.

OMG, me too - and I was a Boden virgin until last week. That Johnny boy has a lot to answer for.

Oh to think I've seen a picture of you in your punk days. The shame of it

P.S. what/who is Boden?

That Jonnie keeps writing to me too..trying to tempt me with his 'this will make you look thin blonde and gorgeous..like the model' clothes...but so far I have resisted (apart from a lovely boden t-shirt dress I got for 4.99 in the local oxfam).
I don't mind wearing the clothes, its just the prices that are a bit dear, so its charity shop or nothing for me.
ps what colour did you get?

S - and I'd deserve it too, they'll take my ex punk badge back off me

TROTN - ooh I'll halp anyone get free White Company goodies

LFBS - oh I have several pairs of fitflops, more than a few Ian McEwan and 3 plants all living, I'm in your club

Taz - I know I've let the side down badly

Gigi - for the love of God, don't google them, you'll end up spending a fortune too

Lesley - it's kinda sad and sweet that Johnny took both our virginities in the same week, I don't think I've got many forms of it left

SueAnn - coach has made it to London and I am in London week after next for 2 days with work...

NB - I am suitably shamed. if I tell you that Johnny is an ex Etonian stockbroker who now makes clothes for yoummy mummies you'll get more than a flavour

Libby - apparently they last really well. As for colour c'mon you know me, they didn't have grey so I went for plain boring black, none of your cheerful patterns or bright colours for me. The only colourful thing about me is my language

I had to look it up, I also confess: my ignorance. However having examined the very attractive website which is very condusive to buying things from, I have to say the coats look very beautiful as well as the interesting mortgage-like prices attached

I would be shocked if I knew what one of those was lol

I actually laughed out loud at this. I have yet to succumb to the wiles of Boden but as you appear to be my virtual twin it must only be some time before I join you. Which one did you get?

auntiegwen said...

Lolly - oh don't be shocked, it's a very boring raincoat

Mrs W - becuase they had every colour of the rainbow and all kinds of patterns, I really put myself out there and bought a black one. Once a punk, always a punk. Ahem...

A BODEN RAINCOAT - that is the ultimate defection!

L - oh it's not just a raincoat, it's a Boden rainyday mac with purple fleece lining AND purple buttons. That changes everything
