Confession Time

I'm not quite sure how it happened but it did. I'm not proud but I am slightly puzzled at myself. I had resisted, despite many others indulging, I had managed to to abstain.

But it's happened now.

Should I tell you and fess it all up? Have I disappointed you? Will you forgive me? Feel free to make me do 10 Hail Holy Queens or as many Glory Be's as you think fit.

Or just shake your head and say "I would never have expected it of you, I just won't feel the same way about you now" or call me a "bad auntie" or make me sit on the naughty step for 43 minutes.

On Saturday...

I went into Cath Kidston and I bought a peg bag, some oven gloves and a tea towel and a luggage tag.

When I could have bought shoes from LK Bennett or Jimmy Choo.

When I could have bought fancy knickers from Agent Provocateur or Myla.

When I could have bought jeans from All Saints or Jack Wills.

Oh no, I bought retro kitchen porn from Cath Kidston, a shop where they provide a handy basket for men to leave their balls in at the front door.

You have no need to berate me, I have let myself down, I am on the way to being an official grown up, I am one Per Una cardigan away from being past it.

I'll have to organise a big night out with drinking, sneaky smoking and a bit of flirting to keep this reckless middle aged streak at bay.

lol Gwen,
I've been throwing out some clothes that are " too young" for me eek !! I had to tie a double knot in the bin bag to stop me retrieving them ! OOh and I bought an ironing board cover lol...but I made sure it was a really snazzy trendy one, certainly not a floral one lol!!!

You clearly need help. Am sending round some inappropriate clothes for you to indulge yourself with.

Oh no! How did that happen? I mean a peg bag?

Isn't there a support group for sufferers?

I can't say anything I have a few bits from the Anthea turner kitchen range.

but a peg bag really? That's not very exiting. At least I got a giant cupcake biscuit barrel lol

Sounds truly mortifying, but I have you beat. I am actually following in my mother's organic footsteps and starting to eat healthy things. I know, I know, I never thought I'd see the day either.

Can you tell us where the shop is, just in case we want to boycott it, please?

CK puzzles me - it is nice but i am able to leave it alone(. but i so laughed at yr post ) - it is insidious as i thinbk maybe i wd like a floral whatever!!!!!!.
i remeber everyone pouring over early Laura ashley catalogues in the same way. we saved up to go to oxford on the train for a victorian shirt!! they were £8 over 25 yrs ago!!

What in the hell is a peg bag??? I've been puzzling over that one. I suppose I could Google it.....

Nah, I don't think you are growing up - I think it was just a fit of insanity. I mean really - a peg bag? No one even knows what it is. You are absolved.

nope never heard of Cath Kidston and from your post I am proud of it but I did wear a beige yes BEIGE cardy to work today and by lunch I was so ashamed I went to the shops and bought some new clothes!!

I think Kath Kidston drizzles some narcotic on you as you go through the door - I look in the window and think 'yeugh', then my 18 year old (going on 40 since she was 4) drags me in and the next thing I am buying everything in sight.

Have all of the above. I'm past help....

I don't know - kitchen stuff can be quite exciting - oh dear, have I let myself down too?!

LOL! It comes to us all I fear! I love a bit of Cath Kidston, but then I'm more ancient than you!

I too, am a Cath Kidstone lover. Blame my neighbour (who is 25!) for it, she started me off with the catalogue, then the online shop.... Luckily, the chances of me actually getting to a real life shop are pretty slim. And I feel disappointed about this... sniff... old before my time, you see.

Sounds reasonable to me. I am the woman who went 100 miles to look at a quilting exhibition for f***ks sake. You have an award over at my gaffe btw.

Did you like my typo? Did you? Did you?

It's a b*****d when middle-aggie creeps up and bites you. Mind you, I'm not one for spotting a classy label either but as long as it gets daughter approval I'm happy. I act worse than my dress sense so I think I must be doing something right....

ps.......I loved that long, blank bit!!

Mrs Yappy Dog said...

my goodness, whatever came over you - can't you be content with furtive lurking at CK stores like the rest of us middle aged? when an oven glove is more enticing than Agent P undies we are definitely middle aged, when our husband tells us we look good in the oven glove - we are completely without hope!

I must be a grown up too as I bought CK flowery fabric, but I am in denial.

It has to happen to us all at some time. I just thought you might take a little bit longer. I shall have a moment's silence for the passing of your youth.

I love Cath Kidson but also wear All Saints but then I'm a bit confused over my age!!!

I wouldn't worry until you start fancying shoes in Clarks.
