Result

This morning after a very sleepless night, the Eldest Beautiful Daughter and I went to school to collect her A2 results. We timed it just to arrive at 8am as they opened the doors.

It's quite startling to a middle aged Mummy to see so many of these teenager creatures at such a time. Who knew they were capable of morning? As the tension level wasn't quite high enough, a box of the school's results had been mistakenly delivered to a local 6th form College, this meant we had to wait for the box to come back. After 11 minutes we're allowed in, it did feel like a fortnight but my watch told me differently and who am I to disagree?

The actual exam results are quite difficult to read and I'm not talking about my middle aged at arms length squinting type hard to read, just hard to decipher and I'm a teacher for feck's sake, could they not just put in bold across the top - Your A2 result is level...
Much less stressful, all round, I feel. Yes, I do agree, if I was in charge everything would be much better, so glad you're with me on that.

Eventually we worked out the she had indeed achieved the magic B C C required to secure her place, so in a few weeks time the Eldest Beautiful Daughter will be off to the place where they take all my money and she gets to perfect her drinking technique. And if we're really lucky she'll get a degree too.

Yay! Very well done EBD!

Now Gwen, where do I go to vote for you to be put in charge of everything? And can I be your right hand woman? Because I know if I had any say so a few things around here would be less stressful.....

BMTA - yep, big relief

Libby - yep breathing is now an option

VR - know it well love, had that at GCSE, really limited the AS level choice and this year herself was disappointed, she felt she should have done better in drama but she had enough to get in and that'll do

Gigi - indeed, we could be in charge of the world !!!! I'll do Europe, you do the US, anyone for the Antipodes????

Hi, my first time commenting here - I called by a few days ago and spent an enjoyable time getting up to speed with who's who (love the look of your Turkish house and am gobsmacked at your strict criteria for men, especially the star signs!!).
Congratulations to EBD and look forward to you blogging about her leaving for Uni.
In my day the school just wrote your A and O level grades onto self-addressed postcards and mailed it - easy to read!

Daisy had to wait until 9.30! The pain... I agree that haiku would have been clearer to understand thankfully she had the sense to check UCAS first or there would have been tears.
I am so pleased your EBD got the place she wanted and yes the real money starts hemorrhaging now!

Well done to your daughter in such a tough climate for Uni places. We're just starting on the GCSE route (although DS has taken his French two years early so we have that to look forward to on Tuesday) and to be honest, what happens after that seems a mystery to me - except it seems to cost a lot of money!

auntiegwen said...

M - yep, me too TBS gets half of his on Tues

Lolly - yep we can breathe now

Shirley - oh yep nothing happens for months and then it's all go, hope you're all well, mylovelt friend x

RLS - thanks Steve, my hours are being increased at work, taking me up to full time :( but every little helps as they say

Mud - oh yes, I approve whole heartedly of raising glasses, hope you're feeling well xx

Alison - yep, back to full time for me, big congrats to Daisy (we did try and check UCAS but it was overloaded)

VLIF - yep money is the key to it all, lots and lots of money. Good luck for tomorrow.

Congratulations EBD!! Not easy to secure a university place this year, she's done well.

(I don't get the mistake thing though; exam results are sent to schools electronically the day BEFORE they are to be released to pupils, so the school had them on Wednesday!)

WM - When I arrived the Head cam over to speak to me ( as I used to teach there) and he said that a box of OCR results had gone to this other college, I didn't even query it.

Congratulations EBD.

And I hope you're basking in her reflected glory because children always get their brain power from their mums.
