Things I learned yesterday

Always check the chair before you sit down.

Especially in Nursing homes.

It isn't comfortable to be delivering a 3 hour training session with a wet patch on your middle aged lady Boden wrap round dress.

Ken - thank you, when I used to be a nurse I always checked. That's what a decade in academia got me, a wet bum.

SueAnn and Ayak - you both popped up when I was typing my reply to Ken !!!!

It was a really horrible realisation, and yep Ayak it had to be me ! xxx

Why I do believe this is quite excellent advice - in all situations. Says the woman who has sat on gum more times than she can count....

I bet those old ladies did it on purpose and sat back to watch you squirm!

I'm with Betty - 'twas clearly a trap.

Gigi - oh no, not gum!!!!

Betty and Andy - the revenge of the old ladies for being in a home! I hadn't thought of that

Lolly - just checking out my options in case the beautiful children won't mind me in my old age

Diney - yep, it was in a dementia unit

Libby - not a grey cardie in sight, sadly :(

CQ - yep it really was

Mrs W - genuinely delivering training as for the brownie eeuurrrgghhhhh

Hats off to you for not screaming and running for the hills. Wily things, old people. I'm sorry though, I did laugh!

Oh dear God! It could have been worse. My old PA sat on the chair at reception to cover for the receptionist who had to dash to the loo. When she stood up she had blood on her white denim skirt! The silly old trout that worked there had leaked hence her dash to the loo - she could have warned the PA not to sit down! Priceless. Brilliant post dear Auntie - have been wetting myself catching up with your posts - better tell my husband not to sit on my chair eh?!

Been there - done that - I struggled to supress hysterical laughter when it happened to me - a lesson never forgot.

Ewwww, wet patch creeping through the clothes to your bum. Did you shower when you got home???
I sat in a wet patch at the movies once, it was cocacola (I hope anyway) I jumped up as soon as my bum hit the cold and wet.
The comments were as funny as your post.
