The Last Lesson

If you click on the photo you can read the messages, apologies for the language.

This afternoon I taught my last lesson at school. We don't finish for another week but we go onto next years timetable for the last week of term. This means next week I will be killing time so I will clear my desk and office. So today my nice year 12's had brought in party food and they'd got me presents and cards. The board had been written on too, all messages wishing me luck.

It was very strange to lock my classroom for the last time.

It will be very strange the first time someone asks me what I am and I can't reply "I'm a teacher".

Mixed feelings no doubt. One foot in the old world and one in the new. Always a stange time to navigate. Never look back! All the very best for the new job. How nice of those kids to leave such a unique collection of msgs for you. I hope you are more excited than sad. X

Good-byes are such sweet things. Too bad people don't express those sentiments until then! That's what you have blogger friends for, I guess. :-)

FFF - yep indeedy, as for the sex on the beach, what can I say ? teenagers of today ! rolls eyes

Mob - I was unsettled yesterday but onwards and all that.

Shirley - that group were my favourite class, we really got on well, my other year 12's were the ones than killed me.

Mud - according to my friend Sarah, my new job is going to lead me to the man of my dreams, I love Sarah, she's more of a romantic than me ! It's a sort of PM type role in the 3rd sector. Not the real PM's job actually I think I could have a stab at that.

NB - I couldn't possibly discuss sex with a man, on the beach or otherwise. Now be quiet, your mother might be reading this and she'll put us both on the naughty step.

Wow! I can't even imagine what it would be like. Then again I can't imagine doing anything else...

Lisa - I'll still do some training with my new job but high school teaching is absolutely finished.

That must feel really strange! Lovely messages (bit worried about the sex on the beach one) - looks like you will be missed by the people who matter.

WM - I will be missed by students and I think by my colleagues. I have declined a goodbye speech by the head ar staff briefing, I think I'll miss it more than I want to think about.

Sue - I had a really rough time before Xmas and I knew I didn't enjoy it as much as I used to so I decided back then, I just felt it fair to see my current AS and A2 students to the end of the year.
