The Beautiful Son - genius.

School has changed the way they do their exams, in some of TBS's GCSE subjects they now take half the GCSE this year in year 10 and take the other half next year in year 11.

TBS and his maddest mate Rhys Daniel arrived 15 minutes late for their year 10 graphics exam, in their defence, they had an exam timetable telling them to go to the sports hall at 1.15pm which they duly did.

The exam lady gave them a bit of a row but when she was shown their timetable, there was a bit of to ing and fro ing and then they were allowed into the hall and told they would have an extra 15 minutes on at the end as it wasn't their fault.

School in their infinite wisdom have got half the hall sitting year 10 graphics and on the other side, year 11 graphics.

TBS and his mate are shown to the wrong side and given the wrong paper.

Rhys Daniel starts to read the paper realises it's year 11 and too hard for him, sticks his hand up and tells and gets moved to the year 10 side and given the correct paper. Like a regular human would.

My son? of course I couldn't have normal weans could I? he says nothing, not a word, doesn't want to make a fuss, just has a crack at the year 11 paper. At least half an hour passes then Rhys notices that my son is still on the wrong side of the hall with the wrong paper and puts his hand up and tells the invigilator, who duly comes over, ascertains that the bold boy is actually a year 10, brings him over to the correct side and finally after nearly an hour, himself gets the correct paper.

The worrying thing is, despite only having just over half an hour, he finished it along with the rest who started on time. Not holding out much hope for a pass in graphic design...

When I was at school I used to have nightmares about that kind of thing happening - and about missing the exam completely.

I really hope he does well - and I hope they make allowances for him seeing as it wasn't his fault.

Well that was a bit of a cock-up on the part of the school...and they must surely make allowances for it? He may do better than you think.

I still have nightmares of showing up to class late and finding out there is an exam and I haven't study at all. Not even read the book!! Quite disturbing!!
Glad things worked out for son. Or at least I hope they do!

Don't worry, it's a teenage boy thing!!

Our eldest girl (a science student!) would have had a crack at the higher paper, finished in 15 minutes! And got an A*(makes you sick doesn't it?) The youngest would have sat and sobbed, too frightened to put her hand up in case she got in trouble...!

I was a graphics student all thse years ago and the last exam I took ended in disaster. I suffered badly from hay fever and had an enormous nose bleed all over my final artwork!

Still passed though, but not in graphics!!

That's life in 'organised' schools for you! Wee soul...!

Here's hoping it all goes well, but you have to wonder at the school's organisation.

But beautiful manners....

Suzanne - it would be my worst nightmare, not the bold boy, not a bother on him!

Gigi - I hope he will be, Friday was pretty special :) x

Ayak - I think it's all been a bit frantic and not terribly well planned, which is quite unusual for them

SueAnn - I'm just glad his friend said something as they wouldn't have marked his paper because he's not been entered and then he'd have got zero, at least he's got a chance of some marks

Jon - I know, siblings can be so different, glad I'm not alone

Lena - daft wee bugger more like

Madame - in their defense most unlike them

Expat Mum - yep, he has and charm I'm hoping that'll take him places

mob - he's gorgeous but too laid back in some ways... (unlike his stresshead of a sister!)

Oh dear Lord! I expect he'll get an A anyway, they all do.

Don't get me started about year 10s sitting GCSE modules this year - how much can we test the poor mites?!

(PS Can't believe the hall wasn't set out with candidate numbers on each desk and a seating plan to indicate who should sit where)
